Meet the Eardly's. We are trying to live a life full of purpose and joy all while navigating the best decisions for our medically complex daughter. We are trying to do all of of this while still trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for our son and instill values in their lives, and it's messy. Sloane has had 17 surgeries, been under anesthesia more than 26 times, and endures ongoing doctors appointments and therapies. What she has shown us is that her joy is contiguous even under the worst circumstances.
Why the name? Funny you should ask. For as long as we can remember Sloane who got the nickname Birdie when she was learning to eat real food has been obsessed with superheros. It's not princesses or fairies, it's all about Flash, Wonder Women, and Superman. If it was left up to her own devices, which typically I allow, she is dressed in a superhero costume. I think when a person who has fought more battles than many of us ever will on this earth, they have an innate personality to overcome everything in their way and that's what hero's do. They save the day, and so came the name of the blog. I'm inspired with her ability to laugh off the past and put on her costume and overcome todays's challenges with a lot of hysterics and more personality than sometimes we can handle.
